I'm very stoked to be one of the winners for ABC's Heywire Competition 2016!
My story will finally be out for the world to know.
People will finally understand that they're not alone when it comes to drug abuse and being neglected.
I've had "friends" mock the facts of my life that they know little about.
I've been torn down more than once from people who are quick to judge me and my family.
I've been hurt by people who reflect on where I've lived and I've lost more people than they've ever known.
My story consists of the details in this blog. The affects Methamphetamine had on my family first hand.
People will understand why I was acting the way I was, and they will truly see that I'm seeking change. Not only for me - but for everyone.
I wish my mum could seek resources to help her and I wish I had someone who could relate to my situation.
I know how scary and fragile everything became. I was consumed by the fear, the drama and the fact that the woman I had loved unconditionally, dropped me off the edge of the Earth like it was a piece of cake.
The things I would have done to know that someone else out there, somewhere, could give me the emotional support that I needed.
A psychologist, or a doctor, or a friend - none of these people can actually relate to what you've been through. These people can only provide you with answers they've learnt from other sources.
I'm so proud of myself for turning such a negative and hurtful situation into something that fulfils me. This negativity can not only push me to become someone better in life, but push others to seek the same goals.
I will be speaking my story on the radio sometime in late 2015 and visiting the Youth Centre in Canberra and sharing my ideas for a better community.
If there's nothing I love more than my writing, it's learning my abilities to write about something worth while. Something to make a difference to at least a single person.
