Set backs.
We all have them.
Whether it be watching the ones you love escape a burning building, just one level above yours, or losing a job due a disease that you didn't cause or have.
Sometimes we allow others to convince us that isolating ourselves and focusing solely on them and their business is worth losing everything we have spent so long building towards.
Sometimes we are cheated. Far from that of any test and far from any race.
People can go years, a thousand laps around the sun, soaring with every atom inside them to please the ones they love.
Although I'm sure we are all unfortunately aware by now that not all love is mutual, so far from reciprocation it's like Po in Kung Fu Panda truly believing his father was a goose. So mistaken and the hardest part is, usually it's staring at you point blank.
A pattern is coming to light. Handfuls of people now approaching me explaining they can see that all that I do is observe. Building a concept or communications so in depth in my head yet not a single sound escapes me.
The key swallowed whole as the chamber closes.
Such an opinion you will never read from the expressions I allow you to see.
I think in life we all have our set backs in all aspects; work, love, friendship, family, dreams. This isn't a movie, our pain and tragedies can't be fast forwarded to the better parts. We can't skip and rewind. There's no going back, no collecting $200.
When I lived back at home with the entirety of my family in a small country town called Lowood, we would swim in the pool surrounded by arachnids and the euphoric feeling that comes along with endless nature.
Have you heard of a Mayfly? It's basically an aquatic Dragonfly with a lifespan of 24 hours.
How do you live if you're constantly "running" - running away, running out of time, running from something, anything.
The thing with set backs is, they are like an injury - some you heal from and some leave scars forever.
Sometimes it's more important to nurture and to wait for that set back to truly heal before returning to steps 2, 3 and 4.
Where you go 2 steps forward and 3 steps back you leap, like the aquatic dragonfly you must remember that life is short but we are determined to make it to our end goal, our end date, our lifetime expiry.
Sometimes it feels like we are constantly dodging curveballs and just making it around the next bend so when we do have set backs, if we do go back to the other side of that bend it's hard to see the road ahead clearly.
Like my Holden Cruze, beautifully immobilised, unable to be driven for the moment. That is a setback in itself, freezing my chances of escape. Disabling me from doing what I want, when I want.
Bloggers,
The last 2 weeks as you would be well aware, have been absolutely mind boggling.
Reflection seems to be the best coping mechanism. For all the answers that I do not have I just compare them to the things that I had seen before and the feelings that I had felt.
Generally with a mind set like mine, my bounce back period was usually quite a long time. Coping, especially when not people teach you how, can be almost impossible. It's like trying to juggle in a circus when you've never had lessons and you've never performed in a show. How can you do something you simply have not been taught.
So I suppose being 22 has given me the time to train my own mind and my own emotions to channel into something I like. We are not defined by our set backs, we define them.
We choose how large of a slice they can take. How long and how deeply we want to dwell and manifest on these experiences.
Bloggers,
Please remember... everyone has set backs. Not one worse than the other. Maybe in comparison at the time but one simply does not know the true journey of another.
Just remember you are empowered by yourself, the battery or the connection to your own fuse and nurture the set backs before you try teleporting to a future you haven't built towards.
It starts and ends with YOU.
Until next time lovelies.
