Despite my best efforts, I have lost someone close to me, yet again, to drugs. Thank the Holy Lord it's Marijuana and nothing as far as Heroin or Methamphetamine (again). I knew this boy from a young age and as we grew apart, and as we grew older, I guess the world got the best of one of us. Every conversation was visioning his underlying depression that captured his heart and turned him into a blind man. He can see clearly, but he's not really looking at anything at all.
Seeing a friendly face daily who has your back through everything, he just slowly forgot his goals in life. Watching him go from big dreams, to self-doubt, to a big, empty, hole in his heart. Just watching this drug consume him. Seeing his updates on social media, and eventually he was no longer a friendly face I saw every day. He dropped out. Our friendship ended there.
Maybe if I had of encouraged him to take up sport instead of watching him smoke
Maybe I could have yelled at his mum for letting him slip away so easily
Maybe I could have reported him for taking illegal drugs
There is no answer as to what to do. Or even who to turn to for advice.
The only thing you can do is hope that one day they get so high, that they sit there staring at the walls, and realising "is there where I see myself in 5 years?".
I don't agree with legalising Marijuana for the use of happy, healthy people to smoke their life away. I don't agree with people smoking because they think it's "cool", or because that's the environment they were born in. That's not an excuse anymore. If you end up nowhere, or lose everything, It was you.. not the drugs. The drugs didn't speak to you and ask you to smoke them.
I do agree with scientific evidence that Marijuana is an effective solution for medical resources. I agree with helping those who rely on it for the most relevant reasons, whether or not we all know they're probably addicted to it anyway.
Please sign this petition to legalise Marijuana in our state. There are many Pro's and Con's to legalising such a famous plant, although this site will also give you more information on why you should sign!
